Happy 6th of July!

…or a belated 4th! Minor details.

I trust you all had a safe, wonderful, and food filled holiday weekend. I think that’s the one time I haven’t seen Facebook littered with “I hate Mondays!!!111!”

After a fun filled Friday of biking around to meet friends for drinks, and watching a less than stellar performance by the Timbers on Saturday, we headed to Seaside, OR for the remainder of the holiday weekend because my parents invited us down [they rented a beach house]. The weather was great, minus the ridiculous wind that may or may not have allowed sand to scratch my glasses in three spots. Over the course of three days I…

  • Got another sunburn
  • Ate my weight in pulled pork
  • Watched the potato salad get devoured
  • Drank a beer-garita or three
  • Realized that Chex-Mix is in fact the devil
  • Sucked Showed off my mad skills at soccer on the beach
  • Remembered that the Pacific Ocean is definitely still freezing in July
  • Ate the most amazing pretzel bagel [why can’t I find these in Portland?!]
  • Avoided the 4th of July Parade
  • Watched two MLS soccer games + random bits of the Women’s World Cup
  • Found out that Roma isn’t totally terrified of fireworks
  • Walked. A lot.
  • Had another protein filled dinner of a hamburger patty, grilled chicken breast, and massive hunk of pesto salmon
  • Drove home yesterday only to take a 3+ hour nap. Yikes.

And now I’m back to life, which includes homework–as in the massively boring Advanced Accounting text sitting on my lap. I meant to bring you a delicious cake recipe, but it’ll have to be tomorrow.

  • I can assure you, the biggest (if not only) difference between Pretzel bagels and Regular bagels is that you put baking soda in your boiling water instead of sugar. Seriously, they are easy to make.

    • But that requires being motivated enough to make bagels. I’ve thought about it, but me surrounded by a fresh batch of bagels might be pretty dangerous.

  • I always make a half batch, so even when I eat them all I have like 4 bagels. And let’s be honest, you know Andrew is gonna be all over that.

  • Sounds like a great holiday! And, um, pretzel bagel?? Those aren’t in Nashville, either, and now I REALLY wish they were, sounds like heaven! Good luck with homework, does not sounds nearly as fun as soccer on a beach (but maybe more fun than a sunburn?). Looking forward to a cake recipe!
