Don’t Leave Me Alone

This, my friends, is what happens when I’m left to my own devices on a warm Sunday evening. Sad, isn’t it?

Joy [as in Joy the Baker] wrote about something similar today–about what you’ll eat when you’re alone and not cooking for others. Formalities and general dining habits go out the window. Who needs plates? I’m surprised I even sat down to eat this. The cutting board looked like a painter’s palette when I was done with all the splotches of horseradish mustard and spicy BBQ sauce.

We had friends in from San Francisco. We saw a really awesome show [do you listen to Sharks? You should]. We watched two sad soccer games. I ate so many awesome things–pulled pork sandwich and Italian sausage soup from Breakside Brewery, a turkey and pastrami sandwich, Irish stew, and soda bread from Kells, steak, chicken skewers, baked potato, and salad at home, some carne asada fries at 3am from Javiers, a steak and blue cheese salad from Panera, and then those hot dogs and grilled zucchini. Yet all I could come up with was a lousy iPhone photo. For shame.

I do have fresh made pizza dough in the fridge for a sacrilegious cheese-less pizza tonight. Fingers crossed the pizza gods don’t smite me for such things.

  • Hey, there’s nothing wrong with hotdogs! :-p I’ve been known to chop some up, toss them in scrambled eggs and eat it between two soft bread slices. lol. I also like to eat sardines straight out of the can and/or garbanzo beans with ranch dressing. That’s it. Totally not normal. :-p

    • I almost put grilled veggies on my pizza last night!! Haha! I ended up roasting them instead, but grilled would have been a way better way to go!

  • You just simplified my life, haha. I was pondering ways to get a whole/assembled pizza on a grill to cook…if there’s a more difficult way to do things, I’ll think of it.

    • That’s actually on my list of to-dos. I want to fully cook a pizza on the grill. Google says it can be done. [http://kitchensimplicity.com/last-minute-bbq-pizza-dough/ <– That seems pretty brilliant to me]
